This website is databaseless, javascriptless (almost), and highly minimalist it's pretty much completely static and runs on pure 'artisanal' HTML and CSS hosted via Neocities. Everything on this website for the most part conforms with David Bryant Copeland's manifesto 'Guidelines for Brutalist Web Design', with some exceptions I introduced due to disagreements with some of the minutiae of Copeland's manifesto:
- When the relevant image is deemed acceptable (such as, it contains text describing the resource it is linked to, and is small and non-distracting), images can be used as hyperlinks, this mainly applies to to 88x31px 'buttons' from the late 1990s and early 2000s.
- Some minor decoration (such as 88x31px 'buttons' and simple, accessible CSS) is required in most web situations to increase user engagement/interest.
- Some simple, secure, progressively enhanced JavaScript can be beneficial when properly justified. (For example, the services provided by status.cafe, iMood and piclog, to allow embedded sharing of small documents that can be easily edited when away from a website's host machine, such as via a mobile phone)
